🌷 Q.Some ask, “Why are you doing Nitai Bhakti to get Krishna Bhakti? Isn’t Krishna Bhakti enough?”
A. We do Nitai Bhakti as we want to follow Gaura Krishna’s instructions and because His topmost devotee. How? He categorically declares in the Adi Purana that, “Those trying to be My direct devotees are not My devotees at all. Only those who are the devotees of My devotees are My topmost devotees.” One may argue that, “I am already a devotee of my Guru”. But every Guru is only a jiva-tattva. Whereas, Nitai’s unique position is that He is both the topmost servitor of Krishna and the origin of all Vishnu-tattva and jiva-tattva.
Radha also accepts Bhakti of only those who come through Nitai.
So Nitai Bhakti, the cumulative form of all Guru Bhakti, is the topmost Krishna Bhakti.
🌷 Radha can have Her own worshipers. Balaram can have His own. Ram can have His. Even Nrisinghdev can have His. Then why can’t we call out Nitainam or worship Him individually to get Gaura Radha krishna? Why does it always have to be ‘Nitai Gaura’ together? Why no one stops devotees from calling out ‘Radhe Radhe’? Have they left Krishna just because there is apparently no krishnanam in ‘Radhe’? So why can’t we just call out ‘Nitai Nitai’ for Harinam-Siddhi?
🌷 Many Gurus may not explicitly instruct their disciples to take regular shelter of Nitainam for Harinam-Siddhi and Anartha-Nivritti, since that has already directly been instructed by our previous Acharyas like Srila Narottam das Thakur (nitai no bolilo mukhe, majilo samsar sukhe). So these disciples cannot just say that their Guru did not tell it and reject this important instruction of Srila Narottam das.
🌷 Q. Even though previous Acharyas like Srila Narottam das have instructed everyone to take Nitainam, my Guru did not, as he knows best. So why should I?
A. If one belittles the direct order of the previous Acharyas in the name of one’s Guru, then one is disconnecting one’s Guru from his own parampara, thus making it a cult, which is biggest Guru Aparadha. If one says: “I will follow only those instructions of the previous Acharyas my Guru has stressed on”, then all the writings of our Acharyas should be thrown in the ocean, because no Guru, in his lifetime, can personally emphasize all the important instructions of our Acharyas, which we should implement in our daily sadhana.
🌷 By telling disciples to surrender to themselves, Gurus invoke loyalty in their disciples. Some Gurus like Srila Gaurkishor das, however, feel such a deep humility in their hearts, that they can’t tolerate to hear that someone is their disciple, as they want to menially serve, rather than think of themselves as superior to even one soul. Such Gurus are very down-to-earth & friendly to their disciples, always instruct them to surrender to Nitai and attain Gaur Radha Krishna and never correct them. However seeing this natural humility, their disciples should not start thinking of such Gurus as ordinary.
🌷 When an Acharya states that an institution is his body, he means that the shastric teachings practiced and propagated by that institution are his inner mood. It cannot be literal. An institution is temporarily registered in this material world. So how can it be non-different from the eternal spiritual body of an Acharya? Also, how can the mistakes of an institution be ascribed to be a part of the always pure body of an Acharya? He says this because it is a temporary vehicle to share his teachings with the world. Those who follow the teachings of our Acharyas, even if they don’t belong to any institution, are all part of the universal spiritual institution known as the Guru Parampara. And those who may be in an institution officially, but don’t follow, are not a part of it spiritually.
🌷 Never get discouraged that just because you are not part of a so-and-so institution registered in this material world, you are not following an Acharya or the Guru Parampara, even if it may be the institution which your own Guru started. That is simply not true. As Shrila Prabhupada said, “Anyone who accepts the disciplic conclusion is in the discipline succession.” You are under the shelter of the Guru Parampara to the qualitative and quantitative extent to which you consistently implement their spiritual teachings in your daily life, without skipping even a single day.
🌷 “The idea of an organized church in an intelligible form, indeed, marks the close of the living spriitual movement. The great ecclesiastical establishments are the dikes and dams to retain the current that cannot be held by any such contrivances. They, indeed, indicate a desire on the part of the masses to exploit a spiritual movement for their own purpose. They also unmistakably indicate the end of the absolute and unconventional guidance of the bonafide spiritual teacher. The people of this world understand preventive systems, they can have no idea of the unprevented positive eternal life. Neither can there be any earthly contrivance for the permanent preservation of the life eternal on this mundane plane on the popular scale.”
(Shrila Bhaktisiddhant Sarasvati Thakur, Harmonist 29.7)
🌷 Why is it being Forced to say the names of Nitai and Gaura only in the form of the Pancha Tattva mantra? Is it a taboo to call out or sing just “Krishna, Krishna…”, just because we already chant Krishnanam in the form of Harinam? Not at all. So why can’t we additionally resonate or sing “Nitai, Nitai…” for Gaura Radha Krishna prema, without replacing both Harinam and the Pancha Tattva Mantra?
