Heartfelt commentary on why Nitainam complements Harinam, not replaces it.

I am back with all of you with the part 2 of nitai na bolilo mukhe. Narottam das Thakur, the manjari of Radha Krishna directly requests us here to chant, to hum, or to sing or to take Nitainam. Narottam is a manjari, Radharani’s palya dasi. So no one can say that, for Radharani’s palyadasi bhaav Nitai nam is not needed or Nitai’s mercy is not needed. Nobody can say that because Narottam das, who is the most intimate servitor of Radhika and Lalita, Vishakha and the ashta sakhis. He is telling us, nitai na bolilo mukhe. He uses the name of Nitai directly in the first word in this verse. nitai na bolilo mukhe. Why? Because he wants others to hear Nitainam of course. So he says, nitai na bolilo mukhe. But his one of the reasons, one of his heart’s intention is that whatever he is talking about the merciful name. He wants right in the beginning. nitai na bolilo mukhe. It’s not that na bolilo mukhe nitainam. He doesn’t say na bolilo mukhe. He says nitai na bolilo mukhe. The first thing, the most important thing is Nitainam. Whether you forget everything else. It doesn’t matter. He says nitai na bolilo mukhe. And if you see nitai na bolilo mukhe, majilo samsar sukhe. It means that if you don’t do something, then this thing will happen. It’s like synonymous. There is no ifs and buts. Like I was explaining in my previous video. If you wanto stop yourself from going into the negative level and atleast cross the zero level and come to the positive level, then there is no other way than Nitainam. majilo samsar sukhe. And not just that! One will simply lose one’s intelligence, get into wrong deeds, bad thoughts, or harmful thoughts. But he says majilo. majilo means to drown. Literally, one will DROWN! Not even immerse, in one will drown in those harmful thoughts and misdeeds which will not be good for our soul obviously. nitai na bolilo mukhe, majilo samsar sukhe. So it’s a direct consequence. We have Hare Krishna Mahamantra which is our most worshipable Harinam given by Nitai Gaur Themselves and Radha Krishna. And nobody is saying here that one has to replace Hare Krishna Mahamantra by Nitainam for those who are watching this video for the first time. It’s just that what many devotees have pointed out, what Narottam is trying to say here that Nitainam prepares us. Like Narottam says in other song:
vishaya chariya kabe suddha ha ’be mana
kabe hama herabo sri-brindabana
ara kabe nitai-cander koruna hoibe
samsara-basana mora kabe tuccha ha’be (Gauranga Bolite Habe bhajan by Srila Narottam das Thakur)
So what he means is samsara vasana. Before approaching Harinam and Gaurnam, Gauranga’s name also. Gauranga nam is the Yugal naam and I have quoted myself from Chaitanya Charitamrta, glorifying Gauranga’s name. “Gaur Gopal Mantra TOMAR Chari Akshar”(Chaitanya Charitamrita 3.2.31)
Gauranga’s name is the Gaur Gopal mantra. Gau-ra-ng-a.
So we approach Gauranga through Nityananda, through Nitai. Those who have read Chaitanya Bhagavat will be fully aware of this fact that Vrindavan Thakur says, amar prabhur prabhu sri gauranga sundar.
That’s the beauty in being the servant of the servant of the servant. Not the direct servant. So the beauty is to approach Gaur through Nitai. And to approach Gaurnam through Nitainam. And the same, approach Harinam through Nitainam. Even approach the Pancha Tattva mantra through Nitainam. Because Nitainam, as I have written in the book, all of you can read if you have not read. The Nitainam Scriptural Proof for Harinam Siddhi. So that book, every page is a shastric verse. I have given the verses from the shastra. You can read and judge for yourself. I have made in red colour each of the word, which I have translated; The main verse of the word which is the most relevant. In that also, I have said about Gaurnam.
I have not said that we have to leave Gaurnam or Harinam. In fact the name of the book is Harinam siddhi. If I wanted, I could have conveniently left Harinam siddhi verse in book, some may argue that I left Harinam siddhi, the name to impress the Hare Krishna devotees. No. Nitai ki nam enche re. I sang the song in Kartik, Harinam and after sannyas I wrote the first book Hare Krishna Mahamantra Yoga. And I have never said anything contradictory to that book anytime in my life. Actually I never meant like that but okay for for some time, because I got the mercy of Nitainam and I felt so much intimate with Harinam. And I have been glorifying Nitainam more for the last sometime but that doesn’t mean I have given up Harinam. You can hear my audio on kirtanmoy japa, and why Nitai Bhakti. You can see in all my writings and articles, Gaur Radha Krishna’s name comes multiple number of times and multiple times and Hare Krishna Mahamantra comes. Kirtanmoy japa is one of my recent articles and its purely about Hare Krishna Mahamantra. I don’t need to prove to anybody or justify to anybody. In fact Advait Acharya das, my brother pointed out the other day, is that if one does Nitai Gunjan. Takes Nitainam then how can I say that Nitainam will give you Harinam ruchi or Harinam siddhi unless I am myself remembering Harinam. I am not just saying that for show. No, Narottam has said that. nitai na bolilo mukhe. Its the first step. Narottam has said! It is the first. And what is the first step, is to become free from these unwanted things. Harmful things and make our heart clear. cheto darpan marjanam! First make our heart clear. Cleansed of harmful thoughts. Because Gaur Radha Krishna’s name, their bhakti and their lilas will appear in our heart when it becomes pure. It is said by Narottam that:
gauranga’ bolite habe pulaka-sarira
‘hari hari’ bolite nayane ba’ be near
(Lalasmayi Prarthana, Gauranga balite ha’be by Srila Norattam das Thakur)
And it is also said, gaurangera madhura-lila, jar karne pravesila,
hridoya nirmala bhelo tar
(Savarana-sri-gaura-mahima, Prarthana book by Srila Narottam das Thakur)
So Gauranga’s name also will give us tears of love and Hare Krishna Mahamantra. gauranga balite habe pulaka sharir: we will get goosebumps in our body. And all these injunctions given by Narottam das Thakura. And then he says hearing Gauranga’s pastimes our heart will become very pure. So all these injunctions given by Narottam das Thakur, why I am stressing. Why I am giving these commentaries on nitai na bolilo mukhe? Because nitai na bililo mukhe is actually the preliminary, the first step.
adau gurum ashrayam. It’s first. So our Gurudev, our Guru parampara. By glorifying Nitai we are not minimizing our Guru Parampara. Vrindavan das Thakur is my Mukhya Guru. I have mentioned that much before someone can tell me that I have minimised Vrindvan das Thakura and I am glorifying Nitai. Those of you who know me! We are glorifying Nitainam. Vrindavan das Thakura said:
vanik adham murkha je karila paar, brahmand pavitra haya nam laile jaar (Chaitanya Bhagavat 2.3.134) So glorifying Nitainam and Nitai as the jagad guru for those who have not found their sat guru. I always have suggested that one needs a living guru who is a representative of Nitai and te Guru Parampara. I have never replaced Nitai with the need of a living guru. If that was the case, I would have not accepted disciples in the first place. I would have said to everybody take diksha from Nitai or from Guru Parampara. So by the order of my own Gurudev, mercy of my own Gurudev. So in all our vyas pujas, Guru purnimas. I feel very very embarrased to glorify myself. I glorify all the acharyas. And then thinking about Nitai as your guru, Jagad guru you can have. In Harinam Cintamani its written, adya acharya jini shiksha guru tini.
All our previous acharyas we can have direct remembrance of them. That doesn’t mean we are bypassing our Guru parampara or bypassing our own Gurudev. Or we are bypassing Bhaktisiddhant Saraswati Thakur Prabhupad or Bhakrivedant Swami Prabhupad or Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur. Or Vrindavan das Thakur or Srila Krishnadas Kaviraj Goswami. If I had no respect for our acharyas and just thinking about Nitai then I would not be commenting on this song, nitai na bolilo mukhe. I would have just given my own commentaries without referring Narottam das Thakur’s words. In my book, I would not have quoted acharyas verses on every page. And what for? I don’t want name, fame, following. Nitainam, Nitai Gunjan which I am humbly presenting as per the words of Narottam das Thakur, Vrindavan das Thakura as per all the Acharyas. This is not for getting disciples or followers that I am teaching something new. And nobody is teaching that. To show myself greater. If I wanted to do that, I would have gone to the assemblies of devotees and showed off my knowledge. I would have approached devotees of other sangas or other groups. Or I would have done fund raising or something like that. All these things which I am never interested in. So what is my motivation? My motivation is not money, followers. No, my motivation is my love for Srila Narottam das Thakur’s instructions. nitai na bolilo mukhe majilo samsara sukhe. This is the instruction and what I was saying, to continue is that it is a preliminary instruction. Okay, I am stressing on this preliminary instruction for last few years but that doesn’t mean that I am minimizing the Hare Krishna Mahamantra. I already set the level of Hare Krishna Mahamantra by writing Mahamantra Yoga and Hare Krishna Mahamantra takes us into Radha and Krishna’s yugal lila. I have always said that, by Harinam one enters into Radha Krishna lila. And by Nitainam Gaurnam one enters into Nitai Gaur’slila. Of course all names are non different like Prabhupad said that Nitai Gauranga and Hare Krishna, they are the same.
This is the preliminary. And I felt there is a need to stress on Nitainam so that we don’t approach Harinam with offenses and both for Gurus and disciples or normal vaisnavas, whoever it is. Approaching Nitainam doesn’t need any diksha. One doesn’t to decrease one’s rounds of Hare Krishna japa or one doesn’t have to leave Gauranganam. If one is singing Gauranganam or taking Gauranganam in anyway. And Pancha tattva mantra, is the Pancha tattva mantra always need to be chanted. But I am just trying to share. It’s upto you, those who are hearing. Whether you wanto accept it or not.Those who know me, know that I don’t force anything on anyone. I can just share what I have realised the mercy. Whether you may believe or not. Whether I have received the mercy or not of Nitainam to chant Harinam. Whether you may believe it or not. Here I am quoting Narottam das Thakur’s words. That’s upto you whether you wanto believe Narottam das Thakur or not! gauranga’ bolite habe pulaka-sarira
‘hari hari’ bolite nayane ba’ be near
Gauranga’s madhur lila, so nobody is challenging these words. We cannot accept Narottam das Thakur’s teachings in half way like a half hen. What I am trying to say why I was stressing so much was that because this is the preliminary. nitai na bolilo mukhe.
gauranga’ bolite habe pulaka-sarira. It doesn’t mean that nitai na bolilo mukhe is invalid. Or nitai na bolilo mukhe doesn’t mean that gauranga’ bolite habe pulaka-sarira
‘hari hari’ bolite nayane ba’ be near, is invalid. What I am trying to say is that this is the first step. nitai na bolilo mukhe. Why? Because majilo samsar sukhe. kabe nityananda, more kori doya, charaibe mora visayera maya (kabe habe bolo bhajan by Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur)
So first all acharyas; Narottam went to Ekachakra, Jiva goswami went to Navadvip with Nitai. Raghunath das goswami served Nitai at panihati. Even our siddha acharyas have approached Nitainam first. This is the meaning of nitai na bolilo mukhe majilo samsara sukhe. I am very grateful to all of you for allowing me this opportunity to explain my heart. nitai na bolilo mukhe, majilo samsar sukhe. I am not saying that one cannot overcome our unwanted bad, harmful thoughts and deeds by other processes like constantly chanting the Hare Krishna Mahamantra or approaching Gauranga lila or Gaur Radha Krishna’s name. I am not saying that, one cannot overcome that. But Narottam is saying that this the direct consequence of not chanting, of not taking, not humming nitainam. That you will drown in unwanted desires. nitai na bolilo mukhe majilo samsara sukhe. So I am just presenting as it is what Narottam das Thakur has said. And I am still accepting all his other instructions. And we are accepting. It’s like we are worshiping Nitai. But one may say that Nitai is always dependant on Gauranga’s desires.
