Blissful commentary on why and how to approach Nitainam for Harinam Siddhi.
nitai na bolilo mukhe
vidya-kule ki koribe tar
This verse is from the song of Srila Narottam das Thakura, who is none other than Champaka manjari. The intimate dasi of Sri Sri Radha and Krishna. And the most empowered associate of Nitai Gaur. Gauranga Himself left His prem for Narottam. He was saying Narottam! Narottam! Narottam! And that Narottam is telling the whole world. Every single soul and devotee to say Nitai from their mouth.
nitai na bolilo mukhe
vidya-kule ki koribe tar
You may have a very very great education. Very big degrees. You maybe a very expert scholar. But if you don’t hum Nitai’s name, if you don’t take Nitai’s name then that education will not help you during your life to give you real eternal happines. And at the time of death, education will come to your help. vidya-kule ki koribe tar. nitai na! na means those who don’t. If you don’t.. bolilo mukhe. Bolilo means to say Nitai’s name (Nitainam). nitai na bolilo mukhe. Na, if you dont say then there are consequences. Mukhe means it is very very clear that you should say it audibly. Nitaai Nitaai Nitaa…i! Like that. nitai na bolilo mukhe. mukhe means you have to move your mouth. You have to fill your mouth with Nitai’s name. So we are calling. When we call someone, we always take their name in a long tone. We say Nitaaaaai. It’s like a call. We are not only speaking Nitai, we are calling out to Nitai. It is Nitai kirtan basically. It may not have any instruments. We don’t need any japa mala. No musical instruments are required but it is still Nitai Kirtan. Because we are calling out. Hare Krishna Mahamantra is known as the great chanting for deliverance. The great call to Radhe! Hare Krishna Hare. Please engage me in Krishna’s service. Hare Krishna, so it’s a call. Nitaaaai, its a call to Nitai to save us from this repeated transmigration of 8.4 million species of bodily life. In this cycle of birth, old age, disease and death.
nitai na bolilo mukhe. Mukhe! Somebody is little far from us so how will they come to us. When we call their name audibly. Not when we take mentally. No, we have to call. bolilo mukhe. Our mouth, we have the propensity to speak badly about others, criticise others, get angry, speak the words of hate, and malign others. So how will this tendency go away. By filling the mouth with transcendental sound vibration of Nitaaaai. Nitaaai. Nitaaaai!
nitai na bolilo mukhe. So please remembers this one line. These four words are enough to make a success of our human life. And to give us ruchi. The offenseless relish of the Hare Krishna Mahamantra. The ultimate perfection in the Hare Krishna Mahamantra known as the Harinam siddhi. To see our spiritual form in Radha Krishna’s lila and in Nitai Gaur’s lila. And Nitai is in both the places. As Nitai Himself in Gaur lila and as Ananga manjari in Radha Krishna lila. So Nitai’s name can take us into both the pastimes simultaneously. And it can reveal the Hare Krishna Mahamantra. nitai ki nam eneche re. Just like Nitai brought the shuddha Harinam. He opened the market place of Harinam in Godruma. Nitainam will open the secrets, the mysteries of Harinam in the physical absence of Nitai. In His aprakat lila on this Earth, we have His name. So we can beg the pure Harinam from His name. Khoda Nitai! Khoda Nitai! ār nāiko kalir bhoy. The market place is opened by Nitai. So nitai na bolilo mukhe.
Na means not. If you don’t say Nitai’s name from your mouth regularly. Obviously, its not once or twice or thrice. You have to keep on calling to Him till He hears us. Gives us the shuddha Harinam. So nitai na bolilo mukhe. And the direct consequence is what? You will fall directly the victim to your bad thoughts. Majilo! Nobody can save you. Nobody. It’s because the superior happiness. The bliss in Nitainam will act like a precaution. Like a vaccination. Like an antiseptic against the bad thoughts whenever arising in your heart and your mind. And even if they arise, their potency will be highly dimnished because of the bliss you have experienced. That you are experiencing in Nitainam. aparadh nahi re. There is no offense. The full sunlight comes. The full mercy comes in Nitainam even if we are unqualified.
And that Nitainam gives us the qualification for Gauranga nam and then for Hare Krishna Mahamantra. No one is saying that you don’t take Gauranga’s name or don’t take Hare Krishna Mahamantra, I just want to tell you that go step by step, atleast take some Nitainam everyday- do Nitai Gunjan. Gunjan means to hum Nitainam, atleast do that and then you can chant Gauranga’s name and Hare Krishna Mahamantra or if you want to chant only Hare Krishna Mahamantra whatever, the name, the Harinam. Even Harinam is Gauranga nam. Hare Krishna. Gau-ra-ng-a is Ha-re-Krish-na. Radha Krishna!
So by doing Nitai Gunjan you will be actually approaching Harinam through Nitai. That’s what Narottam das Thakur says heno nitai bine bhai, radha-krishna paite nai. So don’t approach Radha Krishna without Nitai, without going to Nitai first. So how does it translate practically? How do we practicality translate in our lives? Just by singing the song heno nitai bine bhai, radha-krishna paite nai! nitāiera karuṇā hobe braje rādhā kṛṣṇa pābe, is it enough? Is it enough? No, practically it means you approach Nitainam. Nitaaaaai Nitaaai…
You approach Nitainam and approach Nitai lila. chaitanya-mangala shune yadi pashandi yavana, seha maha- vaishnava haya tatakshana (Cc 1.8.38). Become a maha vaishnava by hearing Nitai lila and just like we do it simultaneously. Nitainam is not a replacement to Harinam. Pancha tattva mantra is not a replacement to Nitainam. Pancha tattva mantra includes Nitai’s name and the pancha tattva’s name but we don’t take it a lot of times everyday because our acharyas have told us to chant it few times specifically but Nitainam is a namatmika mantra. So our acharyas have said take Nitai’s name and acharyas have said take it constantly, very regularly and then approach Gauranga’s name and then approach Harinam.
Similarly hear Nitai lila everyday a little bit, sing Nitai lila or hear and then your heart will become free of all anarthas and your offensive mentality and then you can hear Gauranga lila, hridaya nirmal bhelo tar and then Radha and Krishna’s pastimes. So all you can do everyday, you know you have 24 hrs a day. If you don’t have much time, give 5-5, 10-10 minutes to each of them. Initially we need Nitai’s mercy a lot, a lot and that is what Narottam is saying majilo samsara sukhe. The first point is majilo. āra kabe nitāi-cāṅdera karuṇā habe, saṁsāra-vāsanā mora kabe tuccha habe. When will those bad thoughts, offensive desires will become insignificant only by Nitai’s mercy and how Nitai’s mercy? If you just chant pancha tattva mantra 2-3 times and you stand before Nitai Gaur deity or you offer bhoga, do you think you will get Nitai’s mercy? Yes you will get to some extent but the way to worship any Lord in kaliyuga is through His name. So if you want really! nitāi-cāṅdera karuṇā haibe, braje Radha Krishna pabe, saṁsāra-vāsanā mora kabe tuccha habe. This instruction of Narotam das Thakur is the prime most of all instructions.
nitai na bolilo mukhe. He did not even tell you: ‘You should not take Nitai’s name, he said if you don’t take Nitai’s name what will happen?’ You will drown in very very very very deep in the ocean of wrong activities. So he does not leave any choice to us. So you can decide. I have explained you these 4 words and I will keep explaining this verse from this song in the next videos. You can watch the next videos and you can decide for yourself. Bolilo, bolilo means bolna, bolna in English means to speak, bol. Mukhe means the mouth. Some people may say bolilo means I can even say it mentally, speak it mentally. To remove that doubt Narottam das Thakur says mukhe, mukhe means through the mouth. Your mouth has to move and the sound vibration of Nitaaaai, Nitai has to come out. And then your Harinam will become so sweet. Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.

Narottam das Thakur has instructed so its an instruction of all our gurus that nitai na bolio mukhe. Try this Nitai Gunjan. Okay, if you don’t like Nitai gunjan then just sing Nitainam: Nitai Nitai Nitaai. Just sing. Okay, if you don’t wanto sing just hear Nitainam. If you don’t like to sing, hear or do gunjan for a long time. Then just do Nitai Nitai Nitai Nitai. That’s a fast kirtan. That is what Narottam das thakur is saying.
